Introduction

Welcome to my e-Portfolio!

My name is Sarah Presgrave, and I am currently studying a Diploma/Bachelor of Health Science at Western Sydney University, The College – Nirimba Campus.

The reasoning behind my enrolment to this course is because I wish to become a paramedic in the near future and was offered this course as a pathway into studying the Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedicine) at Western Sydney University, at Campbelltown campus.

The purpose of this ePortfolio is to convey the types of communication skills I will be using in my future profession of paramedicine, and a variety of communication skills that I should not be using. The portfolio will be expressing the information that I have learnt in order to maintain effective communication within my chosen profession, including skills for effective communication, therapeutic relationships, working in teams, reflective practice, reflective summary and will also include a summary of a role play to be done in class. It will also show the significance of being capable to communicate effectively throughout the profession, in which will take a positive impact on both clients/patients.

The impact of effective communication is crucial within paramedicine as it will assist me in providing quality care for my client/patient and will build a trust between both myself and the client/patient.
